I made a shawl for myself in 2014, using the granny stitch.
It is a very simple triangular granny shawl. I used variegated yarn for the body and yellow for the floral border.

While looking for a pattern for the border, I came across the blog by The snail of happiness. After reading this blog I wanted to do things myself, small things like baking my own cake, baking muffins, still have not managed to bake bread. I am still working on the idea of growing my own vegetables. The snail of happiness was inviting people to contribute granny squares for her Masterpiece. I loved making granny squares but till then I could not think of a project where I could use them. When I started I was going to send maybe just two or three squares, but I couldn't stop myself from making granny squares and ended up sending nine squares. You will find the patterns for the squares here.

This beautiful picture was taken by Jan. Thank you Jan for making the masterpiece! Even today, so many years later I feel so happy and content when I look at the pictures of the granny squares. I feel amazed that my work, my little contribution is part of your Masterpiece. I cannot find the words to describe the happiness I feel.
'The Masterpiece' the story starts here, ends here and the contributions.

The second shawl just off the hook is a rose pink shawl. I have used the granny stitch and the granny square in this shawl. This shawl is also available at my store.
